I have a question:
What is everyone's opinion regarding posting sound clips of one's own playing?
(I'm especially interested in hearing from Steve and/or the moderators of this forum)
Maybe we should all be aware of the protocol for posting clips. Is it encouraged, frowned upon, etc. Which types(solos, w/music, etc.) For instance: is it too self-promoting to post a clip- better to post a link, etc.
Discuss...

i find it really interesting listening to peoples playing when i have the chance and read others comments. some people post and handle the exercise better than others but....
I think everyone is all for it as long as it doesn't turn ugly or competitive. (see Virg's forum for examples of the latter)
I'm one of those who did that kind of post, but i did like almost a year after i registret this site.
I'm cool with it!
What however is pretty disencouraging for us members of the board to see, is that most of the guys who post like this kinda like post one topic and then disappears.
Like they all want to know how great they are, get that stamp of normalcy and then go on to amaze the next board.
I think it's cool to introduce yourself that way, and be honest and say here's how i play etc. Great way for the rest of us to get to know this new member etc. But the 100% absence afterwards kinda leaves me with the feeling " What for? ", that like going to a jam-session and thrill everyone and not catch a gig with some of the guys there. Understand what i mean?
Was just checking out Louis' site...wow man....great stuff. I'm assuming that when you talk about using your practice time wisely it is very similar to what I ve read from Thomas Lang on the Subject? Since it appears that you like Weckl a ton let me ask you...Is there anything better than the final several minutes of Braziluba off Live and Very Plugged In...??
I think it's all good and more people SHOULD be posting videos and clips of their playing since THEY can learn something from everyone's feedback here and so can we perhaps from their playing.
As long as they can take (constructive) critisizm, and be open to other peoples opinions - then it's a good thing.
I have zero interest in hearing someone solo or play a groove, unless it's in the context of music. If you want my criticism of your latest exercise, I need to be paid.

That was my point matricks...I don't expect ANYONE to give a s&#T about my opinion. The original post asked what we thought about guys posting recordings of their playing... I don't care to listen to DRUMS out of context, and the last couple of things I heard posted on here had nothing to do with music...just drums....
